ST. PAUL, MN – On June 13th, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued an advisory regarding ‘Wake responsibility” and requesting compliance and awareness of existing statutes. It is already against the law in Minnesota to operate a watercraft so that its wake endangers, harasses or interferes with any person or property. The DNR wants to remind boaters that our waters are a multi-use recreational resource with a responsibility that is shared amongst its users. Operators of vessels that are capable of producing a large wake are reminded to always be aware and use caution when producing an excessive wake when in proximity to swimmers, docked boats, kayaks, SUPs, and fisherman.
