Minnetonka Power Squadron offers public boating classes
The Minnetonka Power Squadron is offering one more public boating safety class this spring in the west metro area. The course is open to the public. Instruction is offered free of charge but there is a fee for books and materials. Books may be shared with family members or friends.
The five-week class will run on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning May 4 and running through June 1. Registration is at 6:30 on the first night of the class. It will be held at Peace Church, 7624 Cedar Lake Rd. in St. Louis Park. This is located on the north side of Cedar Lake Road, three blocks west of Louisiana.
Topics include what to do when you are the skipper; boating terms and types of boats; marine radiotelephone (VHF radio); aids to navigation; boat handling; government regulations; navigation rules; adverse conditions and emergencies; trailering and personal watercraft operation.
